Aged Inventory Surcharge -- Track and Forecast Amazon's Long-Term Storage Fees
July 28, 2026
Type: New Feature
Overview
Amazon's Aged Inventory Surcharge (the fee formerly known as the Long-Term Storage Fee) quietly eats into margins: every month, units stored 181+ days get surcharged, and the rates climb steeply with age. Until now, most sellers discovered the damage only when the settlement arrived. The new Aged Inventory Surcharge screen shows exactly what you were charged per SKU, predicts what the next snapshot will cost you -- adjusted for the sales you're expected to make before it -- and flags the SKUs approaching the expensive age tiers while there's still time to act. Find it under Reports → Storage Fees → Aged Inventory Surcharge.
What's New
A Dedicated Aged Inventory Surcharge Screen
Four summary tiles give you the state of play at a glance:
- AIS Charged (Last Invoice) -- your most recent invoiced surcharge, with its snapshot date and a color-coded breakdown across the 181--270, 271--365, and 366+ day age bands
- Estimated Next Snapshot -- what the upcoming snapshot (the 15th of the month, billed the 18th--22nd) is projected to cost
- SKUs in 181--270d Tiers -- products approaching the punishing 271-day rate cliff, with units and estimated cost
- SKUs at 366+ Days -- products already paying the highest rates
Below the tiles, a full table lists every line of every surcharge invoice: product, SKU, ASIN, FNSKU, snapshot date, age tier, quantity charged, per-unit volume, rate, amount charged (in your display currency), and country. Filter it, save views, and export to CSV or Excel like any SellerLegend table.
Sales-Adjusted Forecasting
The next-snapshot estimate isn't just Amazon's planning number. Every day, SellerLegend recomputes a projection that deducts the units you're expected to sell before the snapshot -- based on your last 90 days of sales velocity, consuming the oldest inventory first, exactly as Amazon's aging works. The result is what you'll actually be charged, not the worst case. Hover the tile to see which figure you're looking at.
A Home Dashboard Widget
A new Aged Inventory Surcharge widget on the Home dashboard mirrors the essentials -- last invoiced amount, next-snapshot estimate, the age-band bar, and at-risk SKU counts -- with a one-click link to the full screen. It appears automatically and can be hidden via Show/Hide Widgets if you prefer.
How to Use
- Open Reports → Storage Fees → Aged Inventory Surcharge (marked New in the menu).
- Check the SKUs in 181--270d Tiers tile first -- these are the products where a discount, promotion, or removal order still costs less than the fees coming.
- Use the table to see exactly which SKUs drove past charges, sorted by largest charge first.
- Watch the Estimated Next Snapshot tile through the month -- it updates daily as your inventory ages and sells.
- Keep an eye on the Home dashboard widget between visits.
For the full screen guide, see The Aged Inventory Surcharge Screen.
Benefits
- No more surprise fees -- see the next surcharge before Amazon bills it, not after.
- Act at the cheap moment -- the 181--270 day tile tells you exactly which SKUs to discount, advertise, or remove before the 271-day cliff.
- Know the real number -- the sales-adjusted forecast accounts for what you'll sell before the snapshot, so you don't over-react to worst-case estimates.
- Everything reconciles -- invoiced amounts match your settlement, and unmatched invoice lines are kept so totals always add up.
Impact
- The screen appears under Reports → Storage Fees for all accounts with the Storage Fees feature -- no action required.
- The Home dashboard widget is added automatically for existing users; hide it via Show/Hide Widgets if you don't want it.
- Invoiced charges are imported automatically each month after Amazon posts them (typically the 18th--22nd); estimates and forecasts refresh daily.
